This is the second in a series of online tastings is designed for wine consumers who wish to sample Missouri wines to better appreciate the aspects of Missouri viticulture and enology. There will be sessions on both white wines and red wines for you to attend virtually. This second webinar is the fall session on red wine.

Participants will learn the sensory characteristics of Missouri wines—a result of the nature of wine grapes grown here and the climate’s effect on bringing those grapes to the desired level of winemaking maturity. You will also distinguish between Missouri’s wine grapes to learn which you like and to create personal expectations of what to expect from each varietal wine. In effect, you will learn the language to make future retail purchases and be able to discuss your enjoyment of Missouri wines with confidence.

The webinar leader, Michael Leonardelli, holds an MS in Grape & Wine Science and has taught wine sampling courses for college credit and non-credit.

Tastings are free, but registration is required. Maximum participants per tasting is 30 adults, who must be over the age of 21. Participants will purchase one or two wines for sampling at home during the tasting, with instructions on what to purchase sent by email upon registration. Prior to the session, you will receive a wine evaluation sheet by email for use during the session. Wines will be sampled and discussed one grape variety at a time. Each tasting session will run no more than 90 minutes.
