Crape Myrtles Have An  Enjoyable Summer!
The heat may have subsided, but drought conditions continue in many areas.  Scores of trees, shrubs, lawns and other plants are experiencing drought and water stress and will need timely watering this fall in order to survive the winter that follows. Are there any plants that will tolerate and perhaps like hot, dry summers? Sun coleuses, such as these at the Kemper Center for Home Gardening here at MBG, are colorful plants for summer sun and heat. Long-time gardeners may remember when Solenostemon scutellarioides (coleus) varieties only did well in shade or part shade, but today there are many varieties of coleus such as these, that not only tolerate but do best in full sun exposures.
