An outstanding plant wherever used. It's dark green, deeply veined leaves are striking. My single specimen is used in a wildlife corridor between pond areas. I plan to plant several more in various habitats.

An excellent species, but LOVED by deer.

I live on a ridge with high winds, clay soil and extreme heat in the summer. This shrub is not impacted by any of those issues. Drought tolerant, fast grower, deer will not touch the mature shrubs but will pick at the younger ones. Beautiful spring flowers. I have spared my shrub no pruning but at about 10 feet tall and wide it is beginning to sprawl, limbs are long and heavy, might need occasional pruning.

I've not had a chance to enjoy these. Planted several 18 months ago in a large road-side planting, and the deer just ravage them.
