This is a gorgeous tree, with significant attraction for birds. The flowers are lovely, later in the season when other trees tend to be showing foliage only, and it is small enough to be a specimen tree in the average suburban landscape. It DOES need good drainage; that is the only caveat. But next to the Dogwood, this is the flowering tree to have.

In my opinion, the finest ornamental small native tree in the U.S. Flowers in July (an unusual time) with beautiful bell-shaped flowers, glossy foliate, and the fall colors are spectacular. Why it isn't planted more often is a mystery to me.
Caveat is that it requires acid soils.
