Noteworthy Characteristics

Thalictrum is a genus of about 130 species mainly found in the north temperate areas along streams and moist meadows. Some species are native to alpine areas.

Genus name comes from the Greek word thaliktron which was a name used by Dioscorides to describe a plant in this genus.

'Cotton Candy' is an upright, hybrid selection of meadow rue that features wispy, cloud-like clusters of lilac-pink blooms in summer. Mature plants will reach up to 4' tall with a 2' spread.

Problems

Powdery mildew, rust, leaf spot and smut are occasional problems. Watch for slugs and snails. Deer tend to avoid this plant.

Uses

Best in perennial borders, cottage gardens, meadows, open woodland areas or naturalized areas.
